Pros

Only reason to work there is the benefits. They are ok. However, I would never refer anyone to work at DeVry... even my worst enemy.

Cons

Mistreat employees by overworking and underpaying employees. No room for internal promotions. It is all politics. DeVry does not promote based on merit or hard work. Management is not qualified and just puppets for DeVry, Inc. They are a joke. DeVry should be investigated for HR payroll and confidentiality infractions. The school is unethical in their admissions requirements by requiring all advisors to ask for a referral in every phone call and interview or they are reprimanded. Admission goals are really unrealistic sales goals. Promotions and reviews are biased and unfair. Metro President only cuts budgets and condones layoffs. The employees voice is unappreciated and unheard.

Pros

Ability to make a difference in the lives of students. Most of the people that work there are good people overall.

Cons

No praise, recognition, or incentive to work hard or stay an employee there. There was no room for growth. You would think that the university would want to try to hire/keep employees that have worked there for years, learning the ins and outs of the system and processes, especially if they have earned one or more degrees from your university, and especially if they have already spent years being underpaid and under-appreciated (that way they will not be shocked by the way you would treat them as full time employees).

Pros

-Competitive starting salary -Good benefits package/ 401 K -Enough Cosi and Corner Bakery to last a lifetime -Once invested, you can take classes towards earning your masters for free..... sort of. Apparently new tax guidelines limit the amount of "free" tuition an individual can receive in a given time period. If you go over the amount ,you will end up paying taxes on the "free" tuition as if it was part of your income for that year. Basically if you want to complete your masters for "free" and avoid any tax ramifications.... your going to be there a long long while!

Cons

-Don't let the "admission advisor" title fool. The most advising you'll do is telling prospective students how quickly they should start. -Very little help from management with resolving issues in a timely manner. -Management is concerned with one and one thing only.... Enrollment! -Extremely low gradation rates weigh heavily on your morals. Statistically the students you enroll have a very low chance of completing their program. -Low admission standards allow for students who do not posses the skills nor work ethic needed to be successful in college to take on tremendous amounts of student loan debt and in most cases never compete their degree. Bottom line is tax payers are footing the bill because of poor admissions standards.
