Pros

The benefits are really good, they have a flex work program. You get free tuition for a Masters degree. They are implementing work from home. Most of the people are very friendly. They have a cafeteria. You are in a dry building. Covered parking garage. Great off the highway location if you're at Kinect.

Cons

My pidly 2.5 % raise only covered the raise in insurance. I like a lot of others, took the job because I was on unemployment and was desperate, and I find the jobs are filled with people who are very over qualified for what they are actually doing. You do the same thing every day, for years, for little to nothing, with no hope of moving up to a decent position unless you are a favorite of someone. Once I find something else, I will be leaving. Jobs are repetitive and boring.

Pros

For a For- profit, proprietary company they do compensate their employees well, Merit increases are above average, there is an outstanding benefits package that includes PTO, 401-k with a match, Profit sharing, tuition reimbursement (for yourself, spouse and children), and they really do value the students (at some locations....) With the new FlexWork they are trying to establish some sort of work/life balance for the employees. There is no micromanaging, you pretty much are free to direct and be responsible for your own activities and duties on the job as long as you meet your deadlines and are available to help others you are fine.

Cons

Consider before working at DeVry the work/life balance. Essentially there is none. If you have a family this job will simply not work out for you. There are days where you may arrive at 9 and leave at 8 at night. The onboarding process here is simply awful, there is a short run through of benefits and after that you are simply left to fend for yourself. There is NO FORMAL TRAINING PROCESS, so expect not to know what the heck you are supposed to do in your position for the first three months.I literally receive no help or direction in my position. They are absolutely awful at hiring within and tends to hire friends, or those they favor on the Outside and overlook the hardworking employees on the inside. However, if you are fortunate enough to become friends with mangement you shouldn't have this problem. Interviewing was a endless banter session of the same questions being asked a hundred times over. There is such a lack of direction here it's not funny, there is so much tension because management refuses to hold the right meetings to teach employees how to conduct themselves in the workplace, POLITICS, POLITICS all day. Corporate America at it's finest.

Pros

Great starting salary. Co-workers are great. Free education if you ask. Great health benefits and 401k Matching. It will grow to new levels.

Cons

Management likes hiring friends and overlooking qualified internal employees. If you hang out with the V.P., but unqualified to perform the position, you will get promoted. Main reason why I am leaving.
