Pros

Not very many except for a group of dedicated people working to make a difference in students' lifes under a constant pressure for "numbers" and "daily run rates". Many professionals are still working hard to help students to succeed under the constant pressure of "making numbers".

Cons

Management in every level is fixated on micromanagement , almost paranoid on control. No trust in professionalism or integrity of people working for the University. Main campus has been sold as well as dormitory, leaving students in dorms fending for themselfs. Bad publicity and recent law suits drive students away. As a result DeVry has become bad choice for potential students or employees.

Pros

The professors at DeVry are collaborative and given a lot of freedom to be creative with their students. The atmosphere is collegial and supportive.

Cons

The national organization recently gave a raise to faculty but have basically taken it away by cutting more experienced professor's hours and hiring cheaper less experienced professors. Many campus directors are not experienced in dealing with educational issues.

Pros

changing the lives of students and having the opportunity to motivate others, education benefits after six months employment

Cons

stressful work environment, continuous layoffs, long work hours and "black out weeks" where we cannot ask off- even for family reasons. Upper level execs put immense stress on line managers to put pressure on employees to "work harder".
