      Pros

      I was given a tremendous amount of autonomy, which was perfect for me. I also had a supervisor who was tremendously supportive. She allowed me to make mistakes and then worked directly with me to improve my performance. I attribute my ultimate success in the organization to the experience I had with her.

      Cons

      During my tenure I saw too many good people lose their jobs. As a result of repeated downsizing the quality of the service we were able to continue to provide suffered.

      Pros

      The salaries are on par with the industry average. The local managers are carrying and considerate. The corporate executives are rapacious and out of touch with the education that occurs in the classroom.

      Cons

      Although the salaries are good, DeVry makes professors work for that money, requiring a teaching load of 45 credit hours per year. Way too much control is exerted on classroom instruction from the center; home office doesn't permit professors to make local and tailored decisions about instructional content.
