Pros

Great colleagues - you will work with smart people who, unfortunately, won’t be able to shine as bright as they can at DeVry. Cool student success stories

Cons

My overall experience with DeVry was largely negative. While the colleagues are great, they are burnt out, overworked, and lack guidance. They are scared and worried, which hinders their ability to perform good work. Marketing leaders will manipulate you and talk down to you if you can’t read their minds. They will reprimand you and purposefully misunderstand you. Leaders prioritize their own projects and outcomes over the people they work with, making you feel like just a number. It’s nearly impossible to do work you can be proud of due to the lack of strategic guidance and support. They are AI-driven, but it feels like smoke and mirrors. There’s no camaraderie among the employees. People are afraid to collaborate and are too stressed out to even try. Ideas will be shot down quickly. DeVry has a top-down issue that stifles any form of growth, direction, innovation, creativity, or positivity. I can’t recommend enough to stay away from this place.

Pros

When an organization truly lets its mission guide every decision, it sets both employees and students up for meaningful success and DeVry consistently does just that. My expectations continue to be exceeded, especially through the strong cross-departmental collaboration that exists across the organization. No matter the team, the shared focus is always the same: How can we better support our students? The top-down communication from the Executive Committee creates clarity and momentum, allowing that vision to flow through every department. This alignment makes it possible for teams to come together, think creatively, and develop unique solutions that drive positive student outcomes. I am incredibly proud to work alongside such dedicated and compassionate colleagues who actively partner to remove obstacles and put student care first. Employees are encouraged to think outside the box, share recommendations, and help improve processes and team operations all while receiving a strong and supportive layer of guidance from senior leadership. It’s empowering, collaborative, and deeply rewarding work.

Cons

The organization is constantly evolving to better support students, which means priorities and processes can shift quickly. This requires flexibility, but it also keeps the work dynamic and impactful. Not a "con" but more so a call to action to remain ready to act quickly.

Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful and detailed feedback. Your words truly reflect the heart of our mission and the collaborative spirit that drives our work each day. It is incredibly meaningful to hear that our cross-departmental partnership and student-centered focus are making a positive impact. Our commitment to aligning around a shared vision—supporting students in every way possible—only works because of dedicated colleagues like you who actively contribute ideas, embrace innovation, and approach challenges with compassion and flexibility. We also appreciate your perspective on the pace of change within the organization. Your outlook captures it perfectly: while evolving priorities require agility, they also create opportunities for growth, creativity, and stronger outcomes for our students. That mindset is invaluable.
