Pros

Decron is an amazing company to work for. I have been employed at Decron for two years and I love it. The leasing bonus opportunities are outstanding. The managers I have worked for have been great teachers, role models, and wonderful leaders. The senior managers are incredibly supportive and always approachable. They are very complementary and make you feel valued. We look forward to their visits beccause they are so positive. There is plenty of opportunity for growth for those who want it. Decron does a lot for their employees regarding benefits, holidays and parties. Working for Decron Properties has been extremely rewarding.

Pros

Compensation is decent, since they have to pay above market to attract people. However, then they screw you on various promised bonuses and take away “perks” like your mileage.

Cons

This is a family company and their family members are the only people that count in this company. There are some terribly incompetent people at this company, but since they have the family’s last name or have been around for ages, they are valued most. Rest of us are simply overhead that can be replaced and/or removed at any time. Employees are NOT their greatest assets, funding the families trust babies is. They buy lousy apartment complexes and then the idea is that they will fix them up. That is done but it takes forever and the tenants keep complaining about it. In part this is because they can only hire lousy contractors. Decron never pays its vendors on time and then forces these contractors to donate to the golf tournament that David Nagel organizes each year for a private high school for millionaire kids. Which vendor you can use or if you want to fire one all depends on their golf donation. When the units are turned, they all look bland, nothing exciting. Yes, they rent quickly, since there is a housing shortage in LA, not because these apartments are so fantastic. But you better keep your mouth shut or your career will be over. Many good hires in the corporate office last less than one year, once they start clashing with one of the Nagels (or entire departments are let go, when the commercial people were canned a few months ago, and people who knew nothing about that group were put in charge). The corporate office has a bad atmosphere. Most people keep the doors to their offices shut so they don’t have to hear the yelling by David Nagel, the CEO. He yells at everybody, from his most senior executives to the secretaries. But he is a liar. He will tell you one thing in your face and then do the opposite behind your back. Also don’t trust this new HR guy, who is the ultimate brown-noser and gives David all these ideas for “cost cutting” when it comes to the staff. Also don't believe all of these "positive" reviews on Glassdoor that recently started showing up. These are all done by employees who are forced to write these or else risk losing their job. Before they started doing this, the company had a 1.6 rating.

Decron Properties Response

Thank you for your review of our company. We take all feedback seriously and value input – the good and the bad – to continuously improve our company. The assertive tone of your review suggests that you have some outstanding issues with our CEO, David Nagel, and others within the company. Your language tells us that you feel wronged, and we know that nothing we say in a public forum like Glassdoor will do justice to your grievances. If you’re still with the company, we encourage you to raise your concerns with David directly. Despite the opposite characterization, we do have an “open door” policy in this company – and David’s office is no different. At the same time, we do wish to take the opportunity to clarify some incorrect facts and mischaracterizations for the benefit of the Glassdoor community and those seeking to evaluate and learn more about our organization. - Like many growing companies, we are working hard to improve our operating systems. We’ve greatly improved our process by introducing robust technology solutions to expedite faster payment processing for vendors. Vendors and other business providers can learn more about this at www.decron.com/vendors. - Charity and “giving back” has always been a core value at our company. This is evident from the many projects and causes that we have supported across Los Angeles, including our annual charity golf tournament. Many of our consultants, vendors, and business partners have elected to join us in supporting education, and we are grateful for their support of this worthy cause. All the money raised from the tournament goes to support financial aid scholarships for families in need. More information can be read at www.decron.com/about/in-the-community. - We recently made changes to the way that we manage vehicle allowances to better conform with commercial business practices and best meet the out of pocket costs of employees who use their vehicle for approved company business. We did so after careful consideration and communication, and we believe the new policy meets the needs of all those impacted. We hope these clarifications have been helpful.
