Pros

Long-term contract, stable, large office, cafeteria, plenty of jobs elsewhere inside the building.

Cons

Poor leadership - Leadership holds useless meetings where they talk about irrelevant topics and just confuse and frustrate employees. Boring - This position was advertised and marketed towards professionals seeking positions that involve the use of end point security tools such as Tanium and HBSS but the reality is that you end up getting hired to make Power Point Presentations, Excel Spreadsheets, attend multiple meetings, and use web portals to analyze vulnerabilities by utilizing your best guessing abilities. If you like boring jobs then this one is for you. Bring a pillow! Incompetent staff - There is a strange atmosphere of CIV vs CTR that goes on here. I don't know what that is about but the civilian staff constantly complain about low-level IT problems such as "I can't connect to our file share, My email is down, My computer wont restart after an update, I'm not able to dial in, an update screwed up my machine". Many of these people struggle using a computer for day to day tasks. It's ridiculous!

Pros

Commute if you live in Maryland, wellness program

Cons

Procurement shop is poorly managed & micromanaged at the same time. Division Directors and Branch Chiefs don't read regulations and don't know how to train contract specialists. Claims to be compliant contracting organization, is anything but. Threats come if you demonstrate your knowledge. Contracting Officers don't know what contract clauses mean. Scott AFB office is crippled by its own nepotism, cronyism, racism, & sexism.

Pros

Benefits are good, work is easy. You will work at a highly regulated federal Dept of Defense position. Lots of rules and strict processes. This is good and bad.

Cons

While there are some smart and dedicated professionals, there are also scores of workers who do the bare minimum. Zero teamwork, blame game all the time, lots of CYA, Many managers are hired based upon their ability to be Teflon. Nothing sticks to them. They are not professional IT managers. Management strives to cover up any complaint. Agree to anyone that complains. Blame your own employees. Fear everyone and everything. Distrust everyone. Blame others. Don't push to fix things on your own.
