      Dell Bracknell - Review after 2009 Layoffs

      Pros

      Dell has a decent pay structure and reasonable benefits, including participation in pension. Home working is encouraged. The Bracknell canteen does a good job at fair prices.

      Cons

      Endless layers of management who have no idea what their underlings do; constant introduction of pet restructuring projects which last until the manager moves on (which can be after only a couple of months).

      Pros

      decent benefits, a percentage bonus plan (7 percent for lower level employees, higher percentage for senior employees), decent time off (if you don't get called when you are on vacation and doesn't make up for the hours)

      Cons

      Very long hours, little recongnition, constant management changes, no promotion potential, very siloed structure, performance reviews based on negotiations between managers, alot of micromanagement, too many layers of management, constant fear of layoffs, very little team spirit

      Not a bad company to start with after school

      Pros

      What I definitely consider as a positive aspect was smart management, good local strategy and employee training. Good co-workers on the team, good team spirit.

      Cons

      Cons were the same as every multinational corporation that is process driven - global rules applied on local enviroment causes sometimes desperation. No focus on employees as individuals.
