Pros

Dell provides flexible work hours Dell provides good benefits

Cons

Dell relies heavily on outsourcing jobs in USA to other countries like India. Both tech and management jobs in USA are outsourced to India. They lay-off US employees and hire H1 visa employees. If you are an employee working in US you will have to get adjusted to a remote Indian manager dictating your career at Dell There is always lots of 'us' and 'them' in any team at Dell and does not use any collaboration mechanisms to function as Global team Agile practices are namesake and not updated with the latest technology stack. Still uses huge monolithic Applications and mainframe. Most of the Managers in India are not qualified for the job and loyalty plays the key role than performance to get promoted. This is a red flag for many aspiring US tech job seekers at Dell. Dell has scaled up its assets to the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, Google with the merger of EMC but not focused like their competitors in terms of driving company to position in future technology marketplace. Dell has mediocre pay

Pros

EMC had a great company culture, characterized by an obsessive focus on the customer. Outstanding people across the board from executive leadership to individual contributors. Historically, leadership has done a good job of leading the business and aligning the workforce around a strategy.

Cons

The merger with Dell has changed that, at least at the moment. Mass confusion about where we are going, re-orgainzations, layoffs, lack of clear, consistent vision as to where we are going as a company and how we can get there exists across my division. Organizational upheaval is paralyzing decision making and has created a leadership vacuum. Platitudes and generalities from the executive level isn't leadership and isn't what's needed now. It feels as though we have lost our focus. Hopefully things will improve as the organization settles itself out.
