Pros

Great opportunities, good networking, surrounded by strong workforce, availability of training, significant vacation days, ownership of your own career, autonomy

Cons

Penalized for using time off (you get days off but are expected to make up the hours you take off; for example, if you take off one week of vacation, you are expected to bill that 40 hours in other weeks), heavy workload between client work and expectations of involvement in firm initiatives, can involve significant travel with no regard for personal needs, challenging to navigate and network your way into different work groups

Pros

There are none, unless you enjoy being stabbed in the back.

Cons

I worked on the BUMED team, where the "leadership" shows favoritism. You work extremely long hours with very little recognition. The "leadership" will promote those in their clique, and release others based on their lack of recognizing actual talent. All managers, directors, Sr. managers I worked for were all pretty much worthless and spineless.

Great Firm, But...

Pros

Sterling reputation in the marketplace, opportunity to work on some of the biggest clients and large projects, opportunity to work with very smart and talented individuals, and looks great on a resume if you decide to leave.

Cons

No work/life balance. You are expected to be "always on and available 24/7" by partners and senior managers, and your clients think nothing of calling you up with work at 3 PM on a Friday with a Monday deadline. "Work/life balance" has to be more than a corporate slogan; if partners and senior managers aren't setting the example, no one else can follow. Tons of bureaucracy. There are no many layers of bureaucracy at Deloitte, so many administrative burdens and tasks to complete, you'd think you were working for the federal government. Benefits are okay, but 401(k) matching is subpar and raises/bonuses appear subjective and not tied to any measurable metrics (but that doesn't stop the firm from demanding high compliance burdens from its people).
