Pros

great people, exciting profession....long hours but the wonderful places to visit more than make up for it. On the other hand, the passengers can get to be a bit much. All in all, it was a good experience

Cons

Long hours and the necessity to stand on long flights get to be a killer after a while. I couldn't do it any more after twenty-seven years. Oh yes, and the pressure to lose weight

Pros

The flight benefits were great. The employee website has a wealth of information. The compensation was fair and when the merger was complete all employees received some stock which was nice.

Cons

The management at JFK on the ramp side was horrifying with a few exceptions. Of course there are bad managers wherever you go but the good are fewer than the bad. Delta does all it can to avoid any kind of union coming in so they can work ramp employees to the ground; I wonder if the NWA union for ramp was successful. There is a ridiculous amount of favoritism and sabotage on the ramp as well as pure laziness and attitudes from all employees, managers, and the like on the ramp. The baggage system is the same one from the days of Pan AM and so is the asbestos that is everywhere. In all fairness I am only speaking for JFK and from what I understand every station is different. If you are a new employee, don't let anyone take advantage of you because they will as soon as they see they can.
