Pros

Apprears to be some flexibility with management staff. How much flexibility is within question.

Cons

Cheap. Employees finance the company. Meaning you pay out of your own pocket first and wait for reimbursement. Management staff should be provided with company credit cards and shouldnt have to temp finance a company of this size. Work life balance is a big issue for this firm as they claim to be staffing up but they arent they are just moving work from office to office hoping that their current staff doesnt quit. Put in for a job in the Fairfax office but never got interviewed by that office at all...Had an office manager out of Baltimore try to convince me that I needed to be in his office instead. Leadership and knowledge is in question for this firm.

Pros

If you stay for a decade they'll give you $1000? For the most part they do respect the work-life balance, unless deadlines get in the way.

Cons

Extremely technology adverse compared to other companies. Operates on the old boy network with the if you're not with us, you're against us mentality - causes the first con. Growth is by acquisitions only - turn over is extremely high compared to competing firms I've worked for. The managers are not self performing and quickly become disconnected with what it takes to actually get anything accomplished. Many dictators and no real leaders - the blame game is played daily. This company regularly hires young guys b/c they cannot hold onto anyone once they have other alternatives. Any young person should avoid this company if at all possible - things may be better for a senior level person but young guys are not treated well here. Ultimately there are better jobs out there - don't let them try to pressure you into accepting an offer on their timeline.

Pros

Overall a great company to work for. The Dewberry at Work values are not just preached, they are put into practice from the top, down. Awesome, smart people with impressive backgrounds and skillsets. A lot of opportunities for growth if you apply yourself and work hard. Many employees have been at the company for several years. Has a family feel to it. Great mentors and leaders who are willing to help you meet your goals and succeed. If you work hard, you will receive recognition and be valued.

Cons

The benefits package… expensive health insurance, only 2% 401k match after fully vested (3 years), no bonuses, not a lot of paid holidays or PTO. Salary is below average for the area. Mid-level employees are leaving due to more competitive salaries and benefits packages being offered elsewhere… HR claims it’s due to lack of growth opportunities but won’t address the real issue. Senior-level promotions within the firm at times seem to be awarded due to how long someone has been with the company, rather than on merit or performance. Junior-level staff are frequently expected to pick up slack as a result of incompetencies in project mgmt. If you are a hard worker who doesn’t complain and is willing to help, it can be easy to burnout.
