Pros

The benefits are great and rarely matched by other companies. The people are awesome to work with.

Cons

The pay is lower than average. If you attempt to get promoted you come up against the good ol' boys politics.

Pros

Before 2005 - fun place to work - efforts are constantly rewarded. Examples included: monetary rewards for coming in on weekends and new ideas - feeling of 'being sheltered' and backed by a solid organization and management - excellent medical benefits Before the start of 2009: - excellent 401K match - vacation time - effort recognition

Cons

- management promotes hostile work environment, by placing employees under stressfull conditions - start of 2009, DCU has removed the 401K contribution match - engineers are treated like a commodity - 'inside political games' affect job performances across the board and create unnecessary distractions - DCU practices what they call 'cross-training' - what this basically means is taking a person from one department, say call center, and make them a software engineer, or vice versa. Technical project management is lead by people that have absolutely no formal technical expertise. - lateral moves are very popular here. This is an after-effect of cross-training. Definitely not a suitable environment for a professional wanting to build a career - decisions on making vendor purchases are made on basis personal relationships and first matches in popular search engines, little consideration is given to technical personnel's opinions
