      Pros

      Discount seems to care about the well being of not only the employee, but the employee's family as well. I have seen management go above and beyond in helping beyond what would be expected, and not seek credit for doing so. They do it because it is the right thing to do.

      Cons

      Working with tires and can be pretty monotonous and boring at times. The company has over 750 stores now, so it feels like a big corporation even though it is privately owned.

      Pros

      Potential to move up as far as you want to in this company. It's based on what YOU do once you get in. Everyone hired starts in the same place, changing tires. Everybody from the CEO to Sr. Vice Presidents, they all changed tires first then worked their way up. No one will ever be hired in to be your boss, they have to work their way up.

      Cons

      There's not a lot of free time to be had, but we knew that when we hired on. You're told up front the work is hard and the hours are long. But it is a very rewarding job. If your team is well trained and efficient, you won't be there an hour past closing every night. So I guess I don't have any cons about this job. Some people complain but I remind them about what we were told in the interview and we agreed to it.

      Pros

      - For part time work it is good pay, I received 3 raises in my first year. -Usually a fun work environment with the right crew. Management is great. -Capable to learn anything you want to know with the right management group, they will help you grow and be the best. -Random bonuses when your store or region performs. -The owner and founder, Bruce Halle, seems like a great stand up guy. Also many of the regional VP's are very nice and make you feel proud to work at Discount/America's Tire Co. -Company outings, picnics, track days, and other trips provided to some part timers and full timers.

      Cons

      -If you live in an area with lots of trucks, your in for a surprise. Prepare to see your chiropractor. -Store is too small that full time promotions are not in reach unless a full timer leaves or moves to another store. -Long grueling hours working in extreme heat or cold. Lifting constantly and standing and crouching all day. -For full time guys, family time is non existent working 50+ hrs a week.
