Pros

Working at Discount is great for the most part. The company prides itself on how well they take care of their people, the hours are flexible, the people you work with are typically hard working, and everyone starts from the bottom so even the men and women in corporate understand your daily struggles.

Cons

The company makes sure that promoting to the full time position is competitive. My town had two stores and between them they needed 6 full time slots filled, even though they needed to fill the spots they only promoted 3 of the 7 who were able to fill them. The next time promotions were in the works I was one of two candidates, but they decided to hold off until more people were ready.

Needs Some Work

Pros

- Originally I'd say if you like overtime hours then this is the place for you, however they are starting to cut back on allowing overtime so that's just another con. - If you like hands on work then this is the place for you

Cons

- Abnormally long hours for low pay high stress job for busy stores. You work ridiculous hours for minimal pay, in turn never spending time with family or friends outside of work. - Part time can't claim benefits until 12 months, and its limited coverage at best - High expectations for a mediocre job ( mandatory shaving, no long hair, clean pressed button down shirts, expecting more done than you can handle ) - Bonuses, but minimal bonuses that are more like a slap in the face - They pride themselves on taking care of their employees, but pay raises are practically none existent before and after reaching $16.50, then you're expected to go full time for only $17 an hour and work 80 hour weeks. - For people that like overtime, they've started to cut back on allowing overtime. Sometimes you don't have a choice though and have to work long hours anyway. - If you're looking to get stuck at $18 an hour max for 7+ years before MAYBE becoming a manager at a store than this is the job for you
