If you work for a good store manager this should be minimal but its bound to happen eventually. Some store managers will make a lot of empty promises. Language in the garage can be rough at times, but nothing like your average car shops. Winters are super slow, techs get sent home on a as needed bases. So techs in summer are making even up to 40 hours sometimes more, winter I have seen 20 hour work weeks with very open availability. But going back to the pros, if you're the hardest worker, you'll get the most hours either way. Management can be sort of political, and is often full of hot heads who need to take classes on business management and employee ethics. Lots of head butting almost daily. Because its pretty rare that mangers when to any kid of schooling, let alone business schooling they don't seem to get that there is a formulated way to handle some situations and you can tell the difference in those who have gone to school (in business courses).
