Pros

Established and well respected brand, small company feel, A players, 9/80 schedule (great work/life balance), people are respectful, the work is interesting and challenging, and you get to work on cool technologies. Great company culture, beautiful SF office, takes innovation seriously and is positioned for success in future.

Cons

Things don't always happen overnight, but the company is paying attention/working on that.

Pros

Fun market and technology. The company pays well and benefits are great.

Cons

Like many Silicon Valley companies Dolby makes a futile attempt at work / life balance. Executive management, middle management, engineering and many other disciplines easily log 60+ hours per week. Slow decision making process. Very difficult business model that requires strict disciplines to maneuver and succeed. Dolby has struggled to build the required disciplines resulting in many reorganizations over many years.

Pros

Dolby is old, however it is a tech company, and has been actively adapting to emulate the tech work culture. The products are incredibly inovative and cool, and this makes the work you do in your job more exciting. Dolby definitely has the google quality of once you work there, you really believe in the products. Dolby is truly leading the way in entertainment experience technology, and as an employee, you are always exposed to incredibly cool product and entertainment experience demos.

Cons

While Dolby is an older company, they are tying to adapt to the contemporary tech culture. As a result, there remain some conservative old school corporate norms embedded in the company, beneath the modern tech surface. There seems to be a little bit of a ladder climbing attitude amongst some employees, for the most part though everyone is incredibly laid back friendly, and supportive.
