Great place for technical work

Pros

Really smart people, especially on the technical staff. There's probably no other place with the mass of expertise in audio that you will find at Dolby. It's a comfortable place to work, with a strong collaborative ethos. Pretty low pressure

Cons

The flip side of the low-pressure culture is a general lack of accountability and no real sense of urgency. The company is top-heavy with senior people, which makes career advancement pretty challenging. Marketing and sales are generally weak areas.

Pros

9/80 work week, results in lots of time off.

Cons

Commute to SF from south bay takes a very long time. Decisions are made slowly - so slow that sometimes the market has past the want. Indecision because of consensus building takes so long.
