Pros

The people I worked with on a daily basis was absolutely amazing. Great Pay, Every other Friday off gave great home/work balance. My Department felt really inclusive and I loved all the people I worked with. I hope to get an opportunity to work there again.

Cons

Too much foucs on the employees being/living in the San Francisco area especially for positions that can be fully remote.

Pros

The compensation was good, that's it.

Cons

Listen to me closely, do not work here if you’re Gen Z or a young millennial. You’ll regret it. Too many boomers work here who are NOT open to innovation. Your ideas and projects will be shot down to the ground below the surface. I’m rating this post 5 stars to bump this review up and make it the first post viewers will see. (In actuality, I rate my experience 1 star) My manager was the most incompetent person on earth. Each day, my boss would be unpredictable and narcissistic. After a few months at the job, I noticed that my boss made me lose my confidence (not sure if this was intentional or not) which led to a toxic work environment not making me feel safe coming to work despite it being a remote job. My boss was nit picky in my performance review and used words against me which further the toxicity in the workplace. I had a particular coworker who was ~20 years older than me who acted like a high schooler who always needed ego validation. Think about Trump going to Chuck E. Cheese being cranky for not winning a game. That’s how that particular coworker acted. I still don’t understand how he could still be employed at Dolby after so many years acting like that in front of everyone and causing so much pain and delaying everyone. Working at Dolby is a slippery slope. Restructuring happens all the time that leads to numerous layoffs. I knew more than a few colleagues in my department who got laid off due to restructuring and they’ve been at the company for 10 years and even up to 20 years. The company does not know how to retain and maintain its talent, period. If you want something stable, do not work at Dolby. Altogether, do not work at Dolby if you are early in your career, you’ll be eaten up by the boomers who lack emotional intelligence (EQ) and are not willing to train you. You are warned.
