Pros

Great Customers , busy environment.

Cons

DG is by far the worst company out there, they absolutely do not value any of their employees, they are taking hard working hours from their staff by changing their clock in / clock hours, which is completely illegal. The management team all cover each other , no one will take accountability for their actions, they have been stealing employees hours for years, it is so bad that vendors even know of this because it’s happening in most of their stores, what’s even worst not all the staff realize they are doing this, they even have the audacity of making their employees feel guilty because they asked “ why did you give me a hour lunch when I was unable to take one “ or if they forgot to clock in or out for day, the managers adjust their time to benefit them, I recommend people to stop shopping and spending money in their stores, how could you , when they are stealing well deserved wages from their staff and cause them to be in a toxic environment by retaliation, and disrespect. It’s so awful!

Pros

Usually you get to work with chill people. Usually your customers are chill It is a good opportunity to climb and learn a ladder of corporate— just be careful the farther you go the less mistakes that lead to learning you can make. TLDR good opportunities for ladder and good coworker vibes

Cons

High workload for low pay. It’s kinda like slavery with some change thrown in there. I’ve been offered ASM many times but have refused it due to the mass amount of overload you get even as a Key. You’re usually running on a skeleton crew or skeleton hours— and there is no keeping good people so you get lazy and unhonest workers 90% of the time. (You get what you pay for honestly don’t blame them) We don’t get trained. We just kinda get CBLS and get thrown in. It’s not necessarily the supposed to be trainers fault— there’s too much to do for a person to be able to sit down and train another. TLDR Overworked, underpaid, under appreciated

Pros

They have good health insurance only in you FT. Yearly inventory bonus up to 1K if you have a good inventory from the pervious year. my pay was 60K salary.

Cons

Being a store manager, they expect you to have no life. Your supposed to live at that store. I went 2 months without a day off. Working doubles, my AMS was sent to another to help a store manager for covid. I asked for assistance from the DM. I was told to stick it out......"you go it". My ASM didn't show up to work, my DM called my phone to see if I could open the store and miss my doctors appointment. not caring I've been working 80hrs a week. and on my only day off I couldn't do it. Then the regional manager called me seeing what up like bro this is my ONLY off day am........I able to take care of my health or am I not able to because I'm a store manager? Another DM told me that only DMs can stop a truck from being delivered. My DM told me we can't.......smh......well ended up having two trucks in the parking lot waiting to get delivered smh we had NO room to receive 2 of the same shipment smh. DM will send traveling "ASM" only to favorite SM that need help when they get behind on shipment.
