Not as flexible as other companies. No work from home options. Minimal advancement opportunities.

Pros

I was a commercial underwriter processing applications and renewal for P&C, Auto and Workers Comp. The compensation was low but the bonus potential is high IF you are given a good territory. For the first couple years you will need to prove yourself with smaller, less productive brokers in a territory. You will have no chance at the UWing bonus with these brokers but if you can impress, they will give you better brokers to hit bonus with in upcoming years. Stress is very low and the workday is very laid back. Overtime is rare. Standard 40 hour week with limited - if any - travel.

Cons

You will have no input on how to improve things at Donegal. Management decisions are taken in isolation and dictated to the staff. This is true for all departments and is the company management style dictated by the President.

Cons

I can't think of any negative aspects of this position and/or company. I would suggest anyone interested in the insurance industry to look into this company.
