We believe in compassionate care, and that care must emanate throughout our organization, including the happiness, health and well-being of our employees. Our organization has indeed experienced changes, and at times, those can feel impactful on our team members, and they have occurred to achieve a more committed focus on helping those waiting for an organ or tissue transplant. As Donor Network West is an essential part of health care, it has been mission-critical to have staff members both in our offices and working remotely to serve the needs of our donors and those waiting for an organ transplant, while also safeguarding the health and safety of our team members. Our organization is an essential operation to ensure those who await a life-saving organ have hope to receive one in time. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation, which has been especially challenging during COVID-19. Based on direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our local health department, our guidelines were provided to each employee regarding masks and social distancing. We have also asked that in employee break rooms, that staff members wear masks when preparing food, and may remove masks to eat while also practicing the six-feet of social distancing outlined in the guidelines. We are limiting the number of people using the break rooms at a given time and those capacities depend on the amount of available space. If more space is needed during busy times, some of our conference rooms have been identified for use with capacity limits as well. We have modified our office space to allow for six-feet of distance between workstations, although prior to COVID-19, we discouraged people eating at their desks and encouraged people to take a bonafide break away from their cubicles. We are asking that people do wear masks if they are working in their cubicle at this time. We have cleaning supplies available at all locations for break rooms, conference rooms and workstations. We welcome honest and timely feedback and invite you to have a conversation with our senior leadership team directly to discuss concerns. We appreciate all of our staff for their continued commitment and dedication to the mission of organ and tissue donation throughout the pandemic and beyond.

Thank you for your feedback. Donor Network West has always been committed to both its employees and the donor families and recipients that we serve. We know that the work we do would not be possible without our dedicated employees. That’s why during the past two pandemic years, Donor Network West did everything it could to ensure that no employees were laid off knowing that the work of saving and healing lives was dependent on a team of employees who truly believe in the mission and are skilled at the work they do. With every business in order to continue to achieve mission, there is significant accountability especially as a non-profit. We know that every donor means that potentially 8 lives can be saved and another 75 can be healed and that’s why it’s so important that we advocate for donors every day. With more than 100,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, the numbers matter, because one donor loss could mean some waiting loses their life. While thinking about the numbers can be challenging at times, it’s the numbers that save lives. The more people we can get registered to be organ donors, the more people we can realize their decision for donation, means more lives saved. And while a new building may seem expensive, the “why” behind the building all leads back to mission. A new building will help Donor Network West be more efficient and ultimately save an heal more lives through the various improvements to process and time saving activities we will be able to achieve.
