I was brought on as a Dash Team Builder with the pay of $18/hr. One month later I was unofficially promoted to work on the Strategy & Operations team and moved to their Manhattan office. My tasks became much more advanced and my workload drastically increased. I was also working a lot more, 30 hours per week as a DTB before and now 60-70 hours per week on the S&O team. There was a 90-day probationary period where if they want to keep you as an employee after your first 90-days then you're an official (insert_title_here). But when I was unofficially promoted, my 90 days weren't over yet. I was doing more advanced work but still only getting my old pay rate and old title. Once my 90-days were over, I tried talking to my boss about getting better pay and a new title since I was technically but unofficially on the S&O team. I reached out to him about a dozen times and he ignored the subject. He even started canceling our weekly one-on-one meetings just to avoid speaking with me about it. Then, after months of my boss telling me that I was doing a good job, he fires me because I was laughing at a video I was listening to while doing my work. I can't make this up. I found out months later that my boss quit. I wonder why.
