Great Colleagues and a Forge-Your-Own-Way Culture

Pros

-DrFirst has many dedicated and smart workers. The atmosphere among colleagues is wonderful and is the strongest asset of the company. While the ramp-up period for new employees is longer and there is plenty of product knowledge to learn, other employees are very helpful at answering questions and pointing the right way. -Great learning opportunities are to be had for those who take initiative at DrFirst. While there is always something to learn, people who ask questions, take project leadership, and attend the sometimes-offered optional company-training will learn the most. -Good control over the project field options for your work as an employee. Several times, my supervisor has offered a choice to work on different projects for an upcoming cycle. I felt that my opinion is heard, whether it was wanting to work or not wanting to work on a particular project. -Employees have 9 paid holidays and start with 18 paid time off days per year.

Cons

-Work feedback is a precious commodity, as it's seldom given for people taking leadership roles and offered even less when someone is doing satisfactory work. Even more troublesome is that important checks on work are sometimes not recorded or simply not done. -Developers and QA get requirements later, rather than sooner, and therefore, have a smaller stake in their construction and quality. This also leads to scope creep and also often the establishment of unrealistic expectations. Employees will end up working 50+ hour weeks if they don't personally reject and time-manage expectations. Teams don't often do very good long-term planning, and it ends up hurting each individual, with little support or improvement. -Work from Home / Telecommuting is really not an option. Employees are encouraged to be present in the office each and every day or to take paid time off. -Employees were bribed to leave good reviews on Glassdoor.
