Pros

Very organized on-boarding process. Lots of fun, feel-good employee "appreciation" events. Monthly company-wide meetings that keep everyone in the loop. Easy access to leaders and staff in every department. Nice building and location.

Cons

At first glance, the pros sound pretty good, yes? Look beyond the shiny veneer. Pay attention instead to the unusually high turnover in many departments. It’s cyclical and predictable, and it’s a direct result of ineffective leaders who are unable to connect with, inspire, mentor or develop their most promising team members. As a result, their best and brightest leave, bringing their talents, ideas, energy, light, innovation and can-do attitudes with them. Left behind are those who have resigned themselves to settle for less, keep their heads down and bring home a paycheck. That’s hardly a winning recipe for innovation. And yet, I watched it happen over and over again, in several departments. And this, DrFirst, is why you are unable to dominate the market and move to the head of the pack in the secure messaging market. Your VPs, directors and managers continually discourage and repel the energy, the talent, the ambition and the potential of your best hires. Your “leadership” team has brought you as far as you can go, but you refuse to see it. You have certainly separated the wheat from the chaff, I’ll give you that.

Pros

DrFirst is a constantly growing and changing healthcare IT company. What I am most excited about this company's support of it's employees to grow with the company, to support new ideas and embrace change. DrFirst has a great culture and has become a second family to me! I work with some of the most brilliant people I have ever met, and have so many opportunities to grow within the company!

Cons

As the company has grown so quickly, it has been difficult to keep up with the "growing pains". It's a constant challenge, but I'm up for it!

An IT sweatshop

Pros

Free peanut butter, jam, t-shirts at all-hands, ping-pong table, a treadmill. Summer cookout. Holiday party, fun games. Exposure to lot of technologies in the same company. It will be beneficial (and maybe confusing at first) for someone who's just starting out in their career.

Cons

They've below-par products which the CEO & executives claim are very revolutionary. Do not expect professionalism or company vision from the Executives here. Office politics will curb your creativity and work ethic. Favoritism & micromanagement by managers are a norm here. Being accountable for your work is one thing but the managers like to point fingers at their team members they don't like, openly treat them like crap if they're falling back or if they messed up. If you're just starting out in your career (especially if you're on student or work visa), chances are that they'll take full advantage of your situation - they'll make you work long hours for peanuts. At one point, they paid $10 Amazon gift card or a free t-shirt, if any of their employees wrote a glowing review of DrFirst in Glassdoor. Take all these into account and you've a very unhealthy work environment. Very often employees say that they did not get so much irritated and angry so easily before joining this company.
