Pros

The integration of various products is interesting, including the business areas, which would provide one with opportunities to gain experience on various technical areas. However, you'll ultimately learn how 'not' to do things, rather than learning best practices.

Cons

Management/leads are unable to accept new ideas for driving efficiency into development and testing. If it was 2008, the toolset would be fine, however the technical management folks aren't willing to adopt tools they're not familiar with, this burdens the engineers to leverage old technical dogma. As stated in other 'real' posts, be cautious with HR, they're very close to the very management that you'll one day complain about ;)

Pros

DrFirst has a lot of great individuals who work for the company and in order for DrFirst to be successful, hard work from those who are dedicated is what has gotten DrFirst there and will continue to help them achieve even more. If you work hard and come up with solutions to better your department you will get recognized. DrFirst makes sure the employees are taken care of. If you have to work late, food is provided and you can always count on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when all else fails.

Cons

Some departments need more help in learning how to manage effectively. DrFirst is a growing company and those departments have been improving on where they lack. There have been unrealistic deadlines which have since been identified and changes have been made.

Strong company that cares about its employees

Pros

Market salary (or a little better). Smart, dedicated people. Cutting edge technology. An environment where you can rise quickly if you're competent (although you can also get fired if you're incompetent). The company definitely cares about its employees -- they can demand a lot at times, but they try to make it up to you.

Cons

The development shop was sort of chaotic for a while, but they've definitely taken steps to correct it. Deadlines have at times been unrealistic, but again, they seem to have realized this and are now getting developer feedback before setting deadlines. Internal messaging can get a little cheesy at times. Job security isn't great for underperformers.
