Pros

This is a great place to work if you are an engineer and want to get experience in the field. If your job is administrative in nature, you are not going to find competitive salaries here. The benefits package is great, but base pay leaves a bit to be desired.

Cons

The company is slow to change. If they tell you a change is coming, you need to wait at least 6 mo. to a year to see the fruits of that change. They are behind the times on compensating admin folks correctly for the work we do. Their culture is getting better, but it has been a long time coming.

Pros

It is a great place to start your career. The compensation package includes excellent benefits and an above-average salary. It has various research departments and projects that are primarily funded by customers.

Cons

Since the company is primarily funded by customers, the financial health of the company is uncertain. Your job stability is mainly based on outside contractors and not on your annual performance. The company can terminate you at any given time without any future notice.

Pros

Benefits are good, work/life balance is generally good

Cons

1. pay is below average (for software engineering in general, perhaps about average for aerospace/defense). 2. Draper likes to make it seem like there are tons of opportunities to work on exciting, new projects when in reality very few people get the chance to work on said project, and additionally funding for said projects seems to come and go. 3. Due to it being a matrix organization, you have to be comfortable selling yourself (which I generally am not) otherwise you'll never be able to work on the more interesting tasks and additionally your career will pretty much go nowhere. To elaborate, I've never worked directly with my boss and most of the time he works on completely different programs. Based on this he has little incite into the work I do, and since I'm generally a reserved person, the result has been most of the work I do goes unnoticed.
