Pros

The benefits, very safety conscious.

Cons

The long hours/short breaks, not being fairly compensated for the work being done, passive aggressive management, very very poor work life balance, high turnover rate, NO room for human error (unless you are friends with management). As much as they tout the ability to move up within the company, its more based on who you know and not what you know.

Pros

Decent pay...could be better based on the horrible work schedule alone! Not to mention the wear and tear the excessive equipment puts on your weapons belt but on your body. Oh and they are in the process of issuing each officer their own assault rifle to carry on top of a pistol, handcuffs, gas mask, pepper spray, flashlight, & 3 pistol mags.

Cons

Horrible Horrible Horrible upper management in the Security Department. You will not advance if your not a part of the "good ole boy" system..and can completely forget about if if your a WOMAN! Since the merger with Progress Energy things have gotten worse, which we didn't believe was possible. They have gone to a incentive based pay increase system, which again gives the "good ole boys" a way to push everyone out whose not a part of their BS and refuses to be!

Pros

Pay and bonuses are excellent. Decent medical/dental/vision coverage.

Cons

401k match could be larger. If you are a serious person who likes to work independently without "shooting the bull" a lot, this may not be the place for you. In my experience, as a new employee, your peers and immediate supervisors create their first impression of you and if it is of a negative tone, they maintain their thoughts about you and tend to treat you like the black sheep of the "family."
