Promotions are not easy to come by because of the tenure many people enjoy. Pay does not seem to rise as quickly as it should.

Pros

If you get hired as an engineer at Duke Energy, you will have a job as long as you want one. This work is very suitable for family-oriented individuals looking to stay in the same place for a long time. If you are willing to stick around for 5-10 years, promotional opportunities will present themselves as long as you perform on a high level.

Cons

Not much travel opportunities. Promotional opportunities are few and far between. The salary is below industry averages for similar work.
