Pros

It is a research powerhouse and a great place to start your career and build relationships among leaders in clinical and laboratory research.

Cons

The environment is at times cut throat so you must always be vying for opportunities to earn more funding and further your research.

Pros

They are building a huge nice, shiny new building "Duke Medicine Pavilion" - lots of light!

Cons

The ancillary staff is often overworked and there are frequently nursing shortages on my unit

Good place to work, may take a while to climb the ladder

Pros

Great reputation within the industry, great place to start a career. Good organizational leaders, fantastic and overly competitive benefit package.

Cons

Not as many opportunities as you may think - have great talent at the very top, but lots of mediocre employees below. Advancement seems to be based more on number of years than ability. Many "Duke lifers" here, which makes it difficult to progress in the organization.
