Pros

Good people at the time, trying to do the right thing

Cons

Internal politics. False promises. Prioritisation of low cost vs. good quality. Lack of emphasis on adhering to legislation. Not enough resource to complete requested tasks. Talented team not able to deliver due to restrictions from head office (USA). Unrealistic deadline expectations when being forced to deal with substandard suppliers. Continuous improvement staff whose response to suggestions is 'but we've always done it this way'. Unfortunately now run by a dictator, who if you challenge will leave your career prospects very limited.

A lot of talk, not much action

Pros

Great colleagues with the talent to make the company something incredible

Cons

For all of the smart and talented people working in corporate ESG APAC, there were a few lazy, cry baby salesmen that seemed to have control of the business decisions, with no insight past short term gain. And the way they were allowed to speak to us, with no repercussions except for us to be told to just bite our tongues became incredibly stressful. I have only recently realised how damaging this was to my confidence in my ability to do my job - my performance suffered considerably in the last year there because it was impossible to get everything done, especially after a manager left and wasn't replaced. To then be silenced on top of that for reinforcing our positions to demanding salespeople that treated us like we were their personal staff without taking into account we were working for an entire company, made it really hard to work in a job that I had once loved doing. Senior management pretended to care about long term goals for the business, and about the people that made better decisions at lower levels, but the reality is that it was all just hot air. I don't think they had any idea of the number of hours my colleagues and I spent chasing our tails inefficiently because of poor direction, and when we could work around that poor direction, the rewards were reaped by departments such as sales. It was revolting to watch brilliant colleagues with university education and insight into a better future for the company get shut down by a boys club, who were paid to blame everyone else when they weren't performing. The amount of undermining of each other and sneaky behaviour to only be met with reward was a huge insult to the intelligence of fellow teammates. That's not to say that there aren't a few good sale's guys there (notice that it's just guys - not sure they knew how to handle having ladies in a male-dominated industry), there's one particular leader who was great, as was his small team but he's certainly an anomaly. We were pushed to the point of burn out and in the end, I was thankful for redundancy when the takeover from Clarience happened. If anything I felt guilty for the others in my team that ended up leaving on their own accord without getting paid to do so. I honestly would give this place 1 star except for the few incredible colleagues and friends that I made working there. I hope for the sake of those that are still there that things change, but I doubt it.
