Pros

The laboratory and equipment are very modern. There is an abundance of training available and career advancement for the gifted scientist who wants to advance their career.

Cons

The pace is fast and not for the faint of heart. Working in a production environment may not be for everybody but exceptional scientists find a way to be exceptional.

Pros

-Vacation time accrues quickly -Somehow the bozos who run this company manage to hire decent analysts so you might have some good coworkers (for a few months, anyway)

Cons

WHERE DO I BEGIN? -Good luck ever using that vacation time when you WANT to -Employee retention is abysmal -Corporate is out of touch with branch labs and totally disinterested in solving problems -Workload is inconsistent - expect to be slammed for weeks on end and then when you finally have a single slow week, management FREAKS OUT -Big talk about adherence to strict QA/QC guidelines but in reality the only thing that matters is how much work you put out. Quality over quantity. -Pay is a complete joke. Sure, you can work a billion hours of overtime and make halfway decent money, but say goodbye to the rest of your life as you work like you're in a sweatshop -Benefits are a total scam and will cost you like 1/3 of your yearly earnings. EMSL contributes NOTHING to insurance premiums. -No real opportunities for advancement. This place is all about favoritism and nepotism. You will not be recognized or rewarded for the quality of your work but rather whether or not someone higher up likes you.

Pros

Flexible schedule. Great coworkers. Management is understanding, reasonable and accommodating to life situations (just need to be made aware\communicated with). Management also consistently seeks advice from us employees as to how it can improve things and make working here even better.

Cons

The health insurance benefits are somewhat expensive. However, that said, it's what you'd expect for a company this size. And, in my experience, comparable to what you'd find in the current exchanges (healthcare.gov).
