Absolute farce

Pros

The schedules are very flexible. Vacation time accrues quickly. Good first job during or right out of college. Rarely boring except during slow winter months.

Cons

Work is extremely monotonous and routine. Pay and benefits are lousy. Nepotism runs rampant. Not much room for growth. High turnover rate. I am not speaking in hyperbole when I say my high school not only has better lab equipment, but better qualified people to run the lab. Sexism, racism, and homophobia (as well as others) are very prevalent amongst either the employees and/or management.

Horrible and Unethical

Pros

Not much to speak of

Cons

Too many to list. But do not work for a company that has an ethics policy that an employee has to sign when the star chamber breaks every rule. Do as I say not as I do....Very unpleasant work atmosphere with absolutely no room for growth or financial goals.

Not worth the energy

Pros

In office friends keep you going.

Cons

They do not encourage different departments to communicate or be friendly to each other. The base pay is absolutely terrible and the commission is equally terrible. The amount of knowledge one is supposed to retain to the amount of money you are paid is ridiculous. Unable to get a second job for the amount of hours put in to deal with client needs because they expect you to stay late. Then they want reps to make client visits or take people to lunch but are not given a company card, have to wait minimum 2 weeks before you are reimbursed. I can’t take myself out to lunch or dinner so how is one supposed to take potential clients out? Then wait a minimum of 2 weeks to see the money again?
