Pros

Coworkers are pretty great and friendly. The position is a good stepping stone for the future but that's about it.

Cons

Where do I even start? First of all you don't get appropriate training and then managers wonder why you don't know half of the things you are supposed to know. When this backfired and I said straight up that I wasn't doing something because nobody told me to do this my manager said "Well nobody cares about that in the upper management, we will still get in trouble". No comment there. They sent someone to train me from the other lab who had no idea about some major tasks I should be doing. If I ask a question the answer was "well I don't know how you do it in this lab but in ours its this way". Basically each lab runs differently so how does it make sense to send someone to train me who does not know how my lab functions? This is a company logic and you get situations like that every step of the way. During training everyone gives you different information on how to do things and you are expected to magically know what is the right way. I don't know about other labs but ours has a horrible location which takes forever to get to. Manager is constantly on your case. Sometimes you are so busy and a manager approaches you and wastes your time for something completely useless like "oh do you have that program open? I need to look at something". Why he cannot open it himself on his computer is beyond me. Working with such stupid constant interactions is extremely frustrating especially when you are super busy. If you are late then your manager gives you a long lecture (EVERY TIME) but it's okay for him to be late on a constant basis. This company lacks organization. During hiring process they even have me a tax form from another province. I thought that was strange but now that I work here nothing surprises me anymore. It needs a complete makeover ASAP. The salary is horrible and is not enough to live comfortably. Everyone in my lab is planning to quit except for managers, it is just the matter of timing.

Pros

Great place to start off with to gain skills. Open to cross training those who express their desire to learn more than one analysis.

Cons

Pay is not worth the amount of work you put in. Expect you to work OT but doesn't give great incentive to do so.
