Pros

Schedule flexibility is the best thing about the job, but it comes at a high price. Its a paycheck, and like others stated, its a stepping stone.

Cons

its dangerous working with asbestos, nonetheless you're required to analyze countless amount of samples each day. Horrible pay, even worst, working with sociopath managers that make your life miserable. Your health will suffer, this is not worth a paycheck. Its criminal the way people are treated.

Pros

Good location, there are some decent people working here, I learned a lot

Cons

Hard to understand how this company stays in business, other than the owner's deep pockets. He owns lots of commercial real estate in addition to EMSL. Large amounts of available cash seem to offset the dubious management, marketing, HR, and accounting policies that would have sunk another company long ago. EMSL is held together by a relative handful of competent individuals, but you won't find any competence in upper management, HR, or accounting. These people excel at blame shifting and throwing employees under the bus. Nepotism, cronyism and mediocrity thrive there. You won't succeed on merit, by being sharp, or working hard. You'll only make it if if you are family, a friend, or they happen to like you, which seems as random as a coin toss. If they don't immediately like you on day one they never will.

Not a good place to work.

Pros

Plenty of overtime, flexible hours

Cons

When you start working for a company and find that the people who have been working there for a long time don't have a better paycheck or a better job than the one you are starting with, it is a good indication of how little they value a loyal, hard working employee. I was promoted instead of more experienced, better qualified people because the managers feel they can manipulate me and push me around. If you have opinions or ideas, you are a troublemaker. They don't care if those ideas could save the company lots of money or improve quality. They just want to make all of the decisions on their own, and then blame someone else when it works out badly. They don't seem to realize that happy employees are more productive, or that quality work leads to better profits. I am not writing this because I was fired or mistreated. I seem to be one of the favored ones because I don't make trouble. I am writing this because I see on a daily basis how they make decisions, and I feel that anyone considering taking a job here should have fair warning.
