Lots of changes, but not all for the better

Pros

Awesome coworkers below management level and free food. Lucy is the best receptionist you will ever meet.

Cons

Low-level Employees are treated as though they are disposable and paid at a rate much lower than industry average. Management resorted to threats and insults and when I brought it up with higher ups nothing was done about it. It seems as though bad managers were never held accountable.

Thank you for the candid thoughts and feedback. EagleView is committed to maintaining an open door policy that promotes an environment where feedback from all levels of the organization is not only welcome, but also strongly encouraged. We also recommend taking advantage of the semi-annual confidential employee survey. We take all feedback seriously and this is evidenced in the changes we have made to our total rewards, communication strategies, and processes over the last couple years.

Great people with exciting projects, but compensation below market rates

Pros

Company has been through multiple different phases and management, but the people have worked hard and diligently to maintain our level of excellence. Office has many amenities that help employees stayed focus on work with free food and drinks (although it is part of our benefit package). Clarity into the business has been a plus in recent months with management working hard to share the vision.

Cons

Good people and exciting work is great, but it frankly is difficult to stay motivated when you know you are not compensated anywhere near market rates. Company has attempted a market match, but not sure if my hopes were too high, because the results were very discouraging. No where near market rates based on location, job title, and experience.

It is wonderful to hear that you enjoy your work with EagleView and feel aligned with our commitment to excellence and our vision. We have been working to further increase our transparency and communication frequency over the last year and are glad you notice the progress. We are, however, disappointed to hear that you feel your compensation package does not meet your expectations. We encourage you to speak with your leadership and/or HR to see if a plan can be developed for continued career development and resulting increases, based on our meritocracy-based compensation philosophy. Thanks for the feedback and your commitment to EagleView!

Pros

* Interesting work that makes a difference in peoples' lives. In fact, we literally save lives by helping contractors and insurance people stay on the ground instead of climbing up on roofs. Serious injury and death from falling really do happen. * Fun environment, great co-workers. * The pace is fast, but usually not hectic. There are occasional crunch times and needing to work long hours, but management is serious about keeping it to a minimum. They're apologetic when it happens, but also very appreciative of the effort. * Well-stocked kitchen with tons of snacks. It's mostly shelf-stable junk food, but they try to include healthy options like fruits and vegetables too. * We're in the middle of a big push to modernize our infrastructure and technologies. It's a little painful for the time being, but it's definitely going to make things go more smoothly when it's done. * Part of getting with the times includes more emphasis on things like unit testing and CI/CD. * Bonuses are paid quarterly. * We're finally going to get a 401k match in 2019, although it's not a huge amount. Hopefully it's going to improve gradually over time. * Salaries have been low in the past, but they're improving. * There's a pretty clear vision of how to move the company forward. It seemed a little risky at first, but it's all coming together nicely.

Cons

* There's a ton of work, but not enough people to do it. * The engineering teams are slightly too large because we don't have enough product owners. * Small numbers of teams with lots of projects to work on means juggling multiple things at the same time. There's a lot of context switching. * "Unlimited" vacation is not good. Just like other places that do it, it creates pressure to not take much vacation for fear of abusing the system. * Revenue depends a lot on weather, which determines our bonuses and other funding. It's kind of messed up, but bad weather means good bonuses. * People tend to stay connected via chat and email outside of office hours and while on vacation. * We're ditching our cubes and moving to an open floor plan. I've got mixed feelings about it. Side note to anyone reading this: if you're interested in a product owner position, please apply! We need you and will kiss the ground you walk on if you do a good job. Another side note: I see one review on here mentioned bed bugs in the Bothell office! I've never heard that before, but it's worth noting that they're going to be moving to a cool new office very soon. Hopefully "no infestations" is part of the contract on the lease.

Thank you for your review! We are excited about the changes we are making as an organization, including our new Bellevue HQ, 401k match, open floor plan, and organic seating arrangement. We are working to greatly expand, not only our engineering capacity in 2019 and beyond, but also add resources across the business. EagleView will continuously review our team structures and make adjustments to ensure we have the right people, in the right roles, and with the right objectives so we can all be successful together. Please feel free to send any other ideas or feedback to HR or the leadership team.
