Thank you for your honest feedback. We're glad to know you’ve felt supported by your peers and appreciated some of the small efforts we make. We also want to acknowledge the concerns you raised around performance evaluations, attendance practices, and staff equity. These are important areas, and we’re taking time to revisit what didn’t go as planned this past year. Our goal is to make thoughtful, meaningful adjustments as we head into the next school year. We hope you’ll continue with us as we move forward on this next phase together. Thank you, East Harlem Tutorial Program

Pros

they sometimes give you free bagels

Cons

sexism (male colleagues make more than female colleagues who are more qualitfied!), racism, ableism, students can threaten to shoot teachers with a gun and remain in the classroom with a slap on the wrist, using chat gpt to create IEP documents, not offering a single middle school staff member a contract back after they complained about workplace safety issues

Thank you for your feedback. The issues you’ve described are concerning, and we take them seriously. Allegations around inequity, safety, and discrimination have no place in any school community. While we can’t speak to individual cases publicly, we want to be clear that we are reviewing the challenges from this past year and making significant changes to create a safer, more inclusive, and more supportive environment for both students and staff. We’re committed to doing better, and if you’re willing to share more about your experience, we invite you to reach out directly at jobs@ehtp.org Thank you, East Harlem Tutorial Program

We also appreciate your honesty about the challenges, including staff inequality, limited prep time, and long hours. These are areas we are actively working to improve. If you have specific suggestions, we’d love to hear them in an email sent to jobs@ehtp.org. Your input is crucial as we strive to create a better environment for all our educators.
