I had an extremely horrific and borderline traumatizing experience working at ECHN as a Patient Call Center Associate. First off, being hired during a hack "code orange" and being forced to stay home without any updates as I waited for them to resolve it with no pay was bad enough. Then, terrible communication from my manager where instead of being clear on when to come in or expectations it felt like a constant guessing game. There were times I thought I was scheduled for orientation only and she expected me to come to her office and get to work without speaking to me about it and going over my actual schedule beforehand. Management was just clueless! Then, I was extremely sick and honest about it. You would think after having me sit at home for over a month with no pay due to their hack "code orange", they would have cut me slack about getting sick and staying home for three days to recover and not jeopardize the health of everyone else in the office. I understand I was in my probationary period, but I would rather have stayed home than got every single person in the office sick. When I called out on day 2 instead of my boss texting me something along the lines of "I hope you feel better. Please note, as a friendly reminder because you are still in your probationary period you will need a sick note to return to work." No. Instead, all I kept getting were "Okay no problem" texts, assuming I was clear to come in as anybody would when there was no clear communication being given to them. Instead, my manager had me come in just so she could have me not work at all, freak out that I was there, and go to the ER. Something I could have done over the weekend without wasting my time stopping in, getting dressed, and preparing to work. Like I said, terrible communication. Probably the worst I've ever experienced. There was also absolutely ZERO structure in my training schedule. Every single day the supposed duties changed, and nothing was organized.... I felt so unprepared. and apparently the person who was supposed to set up my computer went nuts that it had to be done in the first place according to my supervisor, so that definitely didn't make me feel welcome. My last straw was when my supervisor accused me of bringing weed to work because she said she smelt it on me a few times. I responded honestly and said "I have family members who do smoke but I don't", which is true. I was drug tested for the job and can take a drug test and even a lie detector test at that, any day of the week. I was highly offended! My father is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who suffers from PTSD and a Cancer survivor who smokes medical marijuana. So what she was smelling was probably secondhand smoke from him. Definitely not enough for others to complain, and if they did, or she found the odor offensive she could have asked me to try to mask it a bit better. Instead, she said she didn't care if I smoked but to not bring it in...reiterating herself after I already said I didn't smoke. Why would I have it on me? and if my performance wasn't being impaired in any way or the smell wasn't causing a disturbance to others I just couldn't understand why she even thought it was okay to address it in that manner. I didn't go into detail with her but when I honestly responded by stating that "I don't smoke but have family members who do," she then belittled me by reiterating herself telling me not to bring it into work. I refuse to work under someone who would rather make assumptions than listen to their staff openly and honestly and come up with a solution. I felt spoken down to and it just was unacceptable! With the low pay, terrible training or lack thereof, inexperienced bad management, and being insulted, I wouldn't recommend working here to anyone. My brief experience as a patient today was no better. Another thing I found extremely strange is my manager freaked out and locked away my folder in her desk which had my login credentials because of the hack. Her way of taking extra precautions. This would have been understandable to me had there not been an entire office of people that keeps their folders out in the open on their desks and binders, or better yet the woman who was seated next to me with all of her papers out in the open which could very well have her login credentials on them as well. I felt treated like a child and belittled, and couldn't see myself under that kind of management long-term.
