Pros

Great location.Fun companies around - Groupon and lots of startups in the same building.

Cons

* Not a technology company. Most software development is just maintenance * Terrible changes in management recently. Previous CTO was very smart and motivating but left in February after only a short stint. No leadership left since then. There's rumors he was let go - but that would be mind boggling and boneheaded so probably not true * No real vision since February and terrible morale. All good people are leaving/have left in March and April - most people are biding their time or sticking around for lifestyle reasons (kids, housing etc.). I'm one of them, but only for the next three months or so * Lots of ego driven managers and department leaders that just protect themselves instead of leading from the front and driving change. Favortism and unprofessionalism by VP/SVPs is at an insane level because CEO is playing part time CTO but not engaged enough * Can't hire even to keep up with attrition

Thanks for your review. We are looking forward to positive changes this year and, as you know, are happy to announce a new addition to our senior leadership team, Tim Kutz our Chief Information Officer. Tim’s vision is to continue developing Echo into a technology company, beyond simply an IT department. Echo’s technology provides significant business value and helps us position ourselves in a competitive marketplace. There are initiatives to improve our communication internally and with other departments, create a project culture that empowers everyone to be successful, while keeping our product lines scalable and flexible, and to improve our data and analytic quality. Your feedback is important to us as we evolve, please don’t hesitate to reach out to HR or the IT Leadership team directly to discuss further.

Pros

The company culture here is one of a kind. I can truely say that I enjoy coming to work every day. The open desk atmosphere makes it easy to get to know your neighbors. My team is always collaborating together and boucning ideas off of eachother, which I love. Echo is always coming up with new ways to improve and you can really see the excitement throughout the departments.

Cons

Making the dials can get tough at times but my supervisor is always available for support and assistance. It is very clear that hard work pays off and you do see results. Plus, who doesn't love extra money on those paychecks!

Pros

* Good projects and technology if you're a "chosen" employee * Maybe good for entry-level, early career, candidates

Cons

I've never been so relieved to move on from a job as I was when I left Echo. Here are a few observations: * Favorite employees are given the best projects * Lots of extra hours/after hours work without comp time or any sort of appreciation. * Middle management is petty and focused on the negative. Employees are punished for very small issues (being a few minutes late occasionally despite working nights and weekends without comp time, for example), and they aren't rewarded for successes. * Salaries/bonuses not in line with the commitment and responsibility that is asked of employees. The moment I left Echo I got a 25% raise and and 25+% fewer hours. * Location is terrible * Middle management does not listen to employee concerns about project pace, setbacks, and subsequent burnout. They pressure for results at any cost and any small issues are painted as personal failures. * Many issues are not discussed as they occur but instead are saved to be thrown in your face months later during your review when there is no way to fix the issue or explain why things happened the way they did. * Most employees are overworked, underpaid, bitter, and miserable. Those who are not are "chosen" and are constant reminders of management's favoritism. People who succeed at Echo are constantly working and online. They have no life outside of work . They crave the validation of a boss/mentor figure. They drink the TEAM Kool-aid and don't see how much the team takes and how little it gives.
