Pros

- good work/life balance, very few weeks in a year that you have to work more than 40hrs - lot of freedom as a software developer, no micro management - free TV!!!

Cons

- health benefits suck - don't expect aggressive growth in career, performance based compensation doesn't happen - bad company morale ... every employee is pretty much negative about Echostar

Pros

Unique Technoligy w/ only one other simular company in the US. A good place to learn this technoligy. Laid back work pace

Cons

Employee compensation significantly lower than comperable positions elseware. Sr. Management view employees as a cost and replaceable like electronics. Advancement is slow to achieve.

Pros

It's a job. Times are tough, I went through a hundred applications or more before I ran across Echo Star and was brought right in. I now see why.

Cons

There are very few positives. The health care benefits are the worst I've ever seen. Pay is low, differential for night work is 10% or more below industry standards. Direct management is either timid or clueless. Middle management is completely incompetent and HR probably gets them into more lawsuits than they prevent with their utter ignorance of the law.
