Pros

The city of Denver. Other than that, there isn't much upside. During my time there, I didn't feel empowered to make a difference. All new ideas are shut down and swept under the rug. Not a place for innovation.

Cons

Everything. The benefits aren't good and the salaries aren't competitive. Management isn't given any power to change the company. Everything must be done the way it has been done in the past. This is not a dynamic company and work has been done the same for the last 20 years. Considering the lack of competition in the industry, this company could really differentiate themselves by thinking outside of the box and maybe looking into pentrating other industries.

Pros

Some of the best reasons are to learn new skills, and get a broad understanding of various types of technologies related to set-top box hardware and software design. The engineering group is talented and works hard. There are a variety of different positions and places to learn new skills.

Cons

The biggest downside is Core/required hours, Travel Policy, Nitpicking expenses and the general "Echostar way" of always making sure that the employee gets the short end of the stick, and that Echostar benefits over the employee in all situations. It is a very morale draining way of treating employees. It almost cancels any positive from working there.

Pros

Lot's of oppurtunity to advance due to rapid turnover. The technology is fun to work with and continually offers new challenges.

Cons

Outright disrespect of employees by senior management. Senior management goals change on a daily basis, creating uncertainty and undermining the integrity of the product.
