Pros

Badging out for the day

Cons

The CEO. She’s fake and talks behind people’s backs. She runs all over the president of the company. Thinks she knows what she’s doing but CLEARLY DOES NOT. Get ready for an impossible workload. Company has grown exponentially and the processes haven’t adapted to that growth. Do not believe the good reviews from the past few months. Management requested that employees go on here and post good reviews because they were having trouble attracting upper level talent.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We’re saddened and concerned that you couldn’t list any positive aspects about your time with ECI. Most reviewers, even those less than 5 stars, still talk about some positive experiences they’ve had working with their Team ECI colleagues, the stability around our contracts, and the ability to work with new and exciting technology. We obviously wish you had some of these experiences to share as well, but it appears there just wasn’t a good culture fit, and we hope you were able to find employment elsewhere that is more your style. We did want to clear up one point you made. We have never asked any employee to leave a positive review. Our message to all of Team ECI has consistently been to please provide us with all feedback, positive or negative, so that we have a complete understanding of what we are doing well and where we should make changes. We simply asked that our many team members who have had positive experiences with ECI share those positive experiences on Glassdoor and other employment related sites, to share those with prospective employees. This directly follows the guidance that Glassdoor provides companies, and all the recent positive reviews are real Team ECI members who have shared their positive experiences. Regarding your comment about processes, Team ECI is continually evolving our processes based on a series of quantifiable metrics and feedback from team members. Every member of the team has the ability to submit ideas to improve the process and each suggestion is reviewed by a special process team. Our processes are continually being tweaked to support the growth we’ve experienced. Thanks again for your feedback! We would have liked to discuss these with your while you were still part of our team, rather than hearing them for the first time now. But regardless, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Illegal time reporting practices

Pros

They definitely keep you busy! They have some amazing talent in the office. I enjoyed learning from them.

Cons

I am highly concerned about their time reporting practices. They prohibit logging more than 80 hours in 2 weeks. However, instead of checking to make sure the employee is working under 80 hours prior to submission, they forcibly make the employee edit their time cards after the fact to reflect no more than 80 hours. This is a highly illegal practice in the Defense industry. The employee should log actual hours worked for compliance. If the 80 hour rule is a contractual obligation, they need to send employees home once they reach 80 hours instead of "cooking the books" afterwards.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know your feedback regarding your time at ECI. We’re glad you share our appreciation for the incredible talent here, and found your own time with ECI a good opportunity to learn from many of them. We place a special emphasis on ongoing training and learning for all of our employees, and we’re glad you were able to take advantage of that by furthering your own knowledge and skills. Regarding your comment about our timekeeping policy, it appears you may not have fully understood our processes. We do have strict timekeeping requirements, and we do have a process for ensuring appropriate time is recorded and applied to the associated project. ECI has a defined procedure, outlined in our employee handbook, for requesting overtime when necessary to meet contractual obligations. When approved, employees are able to work the extra hours and log time accordingly. This is covered in our new employee onboarding. Since this is in our employee handbook, which you would have read your first day here and acknowledged your understanding of, we’re surprised there was so much confusion on this topic. Regardless, as a result of your feedback, we will consider more effective ways to ensure all employees are kept aware of this policy to ensure we don’t have this confusion in the future. Again, thank you for your feedback! We appreciate when former and current employees help us understand where we need to refine our communication and policies. We wish you all the best in the future!

Pros

I have been with ECI for over 6 years. However, I have been a software developer for almost 40 years. I have been at large companies and small companies. All with pros and cons. ECI has several strengths, the largest of which is its ability to win new contracts. ECI does a lot of government contracts and the owners have built relationships and know how to win contracts. Because of this, there is always new and interesting work coming in. There are both C# and Java groups, and even some C++ work. Wherever your interests lie, there are avenues to pursue. In the time that I have been with ECI the company has grown from around 40 people to 120+ people. There are many talented people at ECI that are a pleasure to work with. One last thing, the reason we continue to grow is that we have a very good reputation with our customers. ECI has 23 years in business and still growing

Cons

As odd as it sounds, the growth of ECI can be challenging at times. Developers are in high demand and while ECI does a good job of hiring people in, ECI seems to be winning work faster than we can bring new developers on. At times developers have to move from one project to another. This can be demanding for both the developers and the Product Owner’s and PM’s. The good thing is that ECI continues to move forward and deliver solid products on time and on schedule.
