Pros

Limited partnership is nice. Paid holidays and vacation...3 weeks after 5 years rewarding and challenging job

Cons

You have to be able to get along with your FA. Mine was a jerk ..... The company takes advantage of the part-time help. I was working part time but was there full time but my status was part time so I had no benefits. I was there every day.....got no paid holidays for 8 months and lost a week's paid vacation which I rightfully earned but since my status was part-time it was not recognized by Edward Jones. I actually had 3 days off for 1/2 year but if my status was full time I would had been paid for 5 days off and a lot of holidays. I finally went full time in status and was unable to take days off when necessary. It is very hard to get time off since there is NO ONE there to take your place. When my Dad was dying.....lying in bed dying for 2 weeks. I was allow only 1/2 day off. Sick days mean nothing because you are discouraged to use them. YOU HAVE TO COME IN NO MATTER WHAT!!!! The FA's have a lot better benefits but the BOA's should get more because they keep things going so smoothly.

Pros

The PASS program is one of the most comprehensive training programs in the industry. However, everyones training depends on the quality of the "team leader" you're assigned to. Some love their jobs and are really there to help you become a good financial advisor. If you're new to the industry or have no sales experience, this is a great way to gain some experience before sitting across the table from a prospective client.

Cons

Some TL's are only their to collect a pay check. Also supervisors try to make it seem like EJ is the greatest company out there, there's not a better position than an advisor in the company, and there's no way you can fail if you go through this program. FALSE! Do your research and make sure you understand what you're getting yourself into before you go into the field b/c everyone trys to paint a wonderful picture, but they forget to tell you some important details that may be important to your decision.
