Meaningful work, no value to employees

Pros

Great contact with pts, able to forge meaningful, professional relationships with pts and ability to make a difference is very high. Good hours, good benefits. Good HR department. Good tuition reimbursement.

Cons

Poor management, poor salary for experienced nurses, promotions are not based on qualifications they are based on who you know and who likes you. Management is so far removed from the goals of the healthcare workers. Direct managers are not experienced enough to lead nursing staff, senior management doesn't seem to care.

Can't beat the work and great benefits, but you aren't valued and it's a fiefdom

Pros

No units, minutes, productivity, efficiency. Work in an ADH 8-4 M-F. No weekends, lots of holidays, vacation and sick and personal time in separate banks and generous. Snow days-nuff said. Ability to have lasting relationships with clients that enable trust and life changing improvements. Huge amounts of appreciation from people that have not had easy lives.

Cons

Not enough therapists to do all that is needed. No hope of cost of living increases and all positions have salary caps. Supposed merit based system apparently does not value hard work and great client relationships. Many systematic changes with no staff input.
