      Beware if your company is acquired by Anthem

      Good benefits / fair pay scale

      Cons

      Upon purchase promised, "no one's job is at risk". Within a year downgraded from Director to Manager, then eliminated my, and many others, jobs, and even one entire department. Another Anthem subsidiary has taken over the entire top-level management of my (now former) company. Our company was more successful and they are completely destroying all that was built over the past 6+ years.

      They have poor leadership from the top to the middle. Took them way to long to make an offer. Get all promises in writing.

      Be cognizant of pattern of yearly layoffs

      Good benefits and mostly dedicated employees

      Cons

      Over multiple years, there were waves of new hires followed by layoffs at the end of the year or beginning of the next. Some were hired because of who they knew, but they were not qualified for their positions. Not every employee actually gets a face-to-face yearly performance review. Many reviews were cursory at best. Often way too many cooks in the kitchen made for processes not being followed and lots of rework and needless work due to poor communication. Internal politics is alive and well at Anthem.
