Pros

Great Health Insurance (When in-network) Pay is competitive (In well funded areas) Lots of Opportunities for Growth (Large organization)

Cons

Organizations are director and middle management heavy. (Lack of effective communication) Culture of finger pointing (Management deflects when problems arise) Remote work scaled back (Soft Layoffs) Organization is large and unwieldy (No one knows what anyone does/who is responsible for certain efforts.) Learning Projects treated as life or death scenarios (No flexibility)

Pros

1. Building AI in healthcare is harder than in tech because of HIPAA, PII, and safety/bias constraints. 2. Elevance sits on petabytes of claims data, clinical notes, and interaction logs. 3. Big corporations have deep pockets for compute and enterprise contracts.

Cons

1. Healthcare is risk-averse. Getting a new model or agent approved likely involves Legal, Compliance, and Security reviews that can take weeks. 2. Elevance (like all insurers) runs on ancient mainframes and legacy databases. 3. "Hallucinations" in healthcare are a liability.
