Don't be fooled like I was

Pros

Salary was competitive. Good onboarding process where you get to meet and speak to everyone and learn about what they do and about the products. It should be mentioned that while you are hired by Resilient Management dba Elevation Capital, you will be assigned to support one or more of their portfolio companies, which may include Vivazen, LEVO Naturals, Starlight Development, and others which are all led by the same CEO/founder.

Cons

If the CEO is happy, you'll be elated, but when he's mad (and it's out of the blue and often) you're going to poop your pants! Tyrannical environment, no ownership or autonomy, all strategies and orders come from the CEO. It's not very motivating to go to work to be surrounded by coworkers who are constantly stressed and scared they are going to get fired any second. The other executives are all yes men. Instead of addressing complaints and all things defunct, they prioritize whatever the CEO is focused on, hence things stay broken and morale low . Years of high and fast turnover.

Bizarre and Disorganized

Pros

Experience doing really random things (if that is something you’re looking for). Really personal knowledge about the CEO and his life.

Cons

There is no concept of boundaries. You are on call always and expected to drop everything. Zero organization. CEO changes his mind on a whim. People left great jobs to join this company only to leave a few weeks or months later because the CEO is unhinged and intolerable. He seems manic. Lots of time spent on tedious tasks because there is little technology or automation. There is a reason that they are always hiring for the same roles.

Avoid!

Pros

It is fully remote, and I believe there was one admin who seemed to have a role of repeatable, well understood tasks, and was able to remain under the radar to collect a paycheck.

Cons

Not a real venture capital firm. Rather the passion project of a narcissistic, mercurial CEO who has set up shop in a variety of tax haven islands, and paid attorneys to ensure he is sufficiently shielded him from the presumably nefarious things his various holding companies are up to. There is one profitable company within the portfolio that leaders will claim is going to transact in the next few years; however, with 75%+ turnover, and a narcissistic, unfocused, and unpredictable leader, it is unlikely to happen. Offers will include competitive base salaries and pie in the sky bonus and equity numbers that are unlikely to ever be realized. The CEO has surrounded himself by a group of sycophants who spend hours upon hours listening to the CEO wax poetic about a myriad of topics that do not tend to push the business forward. These “leaders” change direction to ensure alignment with the CEO’s ever changing moods. The rotating cast of characters has yielded a lack of operational capability and disgruntled employees who are usually looking for a new job.
