Pros

AI first company high innovation Responsibility and growth are there for the taking

Cons

Very immature leadership - one is trying to gloss over any and all employee concerns with "just work harder - that's how we win". The other does not care about humans whatsoever - all product all the time. If you don't like it then leave. The culture is "when in doubt, fire the person" - margin for error or professional growth is nonexistent. Everything that is slightly contrary to the "everything is great" narrative is quickly shut down, hidden and removed. This goes for employee concerns about comp, discussions about competition in the market, and even down to the HR team reading glassdoor reviews (hi there!) and asking employees to post good reviews. Never bring up any hint of work life balance - even the discussion about haveing a personal life is frowned upon.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share this review. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience at ElevenLabs didn’t reflect the culture we aim to build. Feedback from former employees is incredibly valuable, as it helps us understand where things may have fallen short and how we can continue to mature as an organisation. The concerns you’ve raised around leadership, communication, and work–life balance are taken seriously. We are committed to fostering an environment where people feel supported, listened to, and able to develop - and it’s clear from your comments that we didn’t always meet that bar in your case. While we can’t change your past experience, we can learn from it. As we scale, we’re continually working on strengthening our culture, processes, and leadership practices to ensure the team feels empowered and heard. If you’d ever be open to sharing more context privately, we’d appreciate the opportunity to learn from your perspective. In any case, we sincerely thank you for the time you spent with us and wish you all the best in your future roles. Best wishes, Milly, People Success

Pros

Product is doing well and it's ridiculously easy to find talent interested in the team

Cons

The whole team believes dying for ElevenLabs is the only possible route. Only hire from "thE BesT UniSS" (which is like.. 3), whole countries considered "lazy", people with kids considered "too interested in having a life". 5 recruiters were fired before the end of their probation, and more keep on being fired. They have no idea what they're doing but are so convinced they are right People are lowballed if they don't negotiate

Thank you for the time you put into writing this. The picture you describe is hard to read, and not the experience we want any recruiter to walk away with after their first year here. What you describe is not the team or the company we want to be. Hearing this from a former recruiter, with this level of detail and pain in the framing, is feedback that needs to be heard, not skimmed. What you have raised deserves more than a public reply can offer. If you would be open to a conversation about your time, we would value it. We appreciate the depth of what you have shared. Pros

- not hands on at all. Must learn on your own / based on your history which is not for everyone -working for one of the fastest growing companies in the world and surrounded by the brightest -hybrid, remote first, no designated day in office -no roles, you can have a say in anything

Cons

- Pay isn't as good as Anthropic per say given they don't have the money for it (but will expect you to work like you are) - no free lunches nor pay for transportation to office

Thank you for explaining your experience. It is good to read that the autonomy and flexibility have worked for you so far. Comp and in-office cost are real flags - neither is small, and the cost-benefit math you walked through on coming in is fair. If you are open to a conversation about your specific situation, we would be glad to have it. We appreciate the careful reasoning. ElevenLabs Talent Team
