Pros

Good benefits, nice building and location.

Cons

HIP was a great place to work at with unbelievable benefits, great people, and senior leadership that believed in giving back to the staff as well as the community. Enter GHI... HIP bailed this not for profit out as it was going under due to poor leadership and misappropriation of funds. The word from GHI employees was always "where is the money." There was often profit, but no one could understand where it went. It never went back into the company, IT infrastructure, employees (as bonuses), the building owned by GHI; so where did the money go each year? Unfortunately leadership of HIP allowed leadership of GHI to strong arm them into taking over and the profits at HIP disappeared somewhere along with GHI's profits. That merger destroyed what was a wonderful American company with employees who took pride in their work and their company. Now the new leadership has been forced to take desperate measures to save the sinking ship. They have just outsourced most of what was left of the employee staff to an international company with staff residing in India. What a shame!

Pros

I've worked under GHI legacy for a very long time and for someone to come onto this site and claim people are complacent and lazy in Emblem Health obviously haven't worked directly with "the people". Hard working is what "we" are. I am speaking for all of the people because I've been with so many for so long. When a new CEO suddenly outsources your work, the morality is lowered and it's difficult to do you job correctly... wondering if today is my last day in a position I loved and became a professional in.

Cons

New people to Emblem. They have no respect, nor they have the patience to see what people do in a department. No one wants to fix the problem inside. They just want to save lots of money and send the work outside. This company is no longer NYC based.

Pros

Salary acceptable, benefits good, training and development OK , company sponsored events and charitable participation good for image

Cons

EmblemHealth never adequately handled the merger between HIP (the company which initiated and bankrolled the merge ) and GHI ( a company with inadequate reserves for claim paying and a reputation poorer the HIP's once was). GHI management negatively impacted EmblemHealth's well being more than the Affordable Care Act. New leadership (no longer GHI) has no choice but to strip down the operation.
