Pros

International environment and great peers.

Cons

In my experience, the work was rather monotonous and often solitary — international colleagues were typically seen only once a year. Leadership support felt limited, and collaboration across key areas of work was weak. Most projects focused mainly on organizing recurring events, which may not offer much professional challenge or growth for senior-level experts. Business travel arrangements were also inconvenient: employees were expected to cover expenses themselves and wait for reimbursement afterward. There was no company card available, and in some cases event participation fees were exceptionally high. The tools and systems in use were quite outdated, and requests for improvements did not lead to visible changes. Looking back on a long professional career, I consider joining this organization to have been one of my biggest mistakes in leaving a stable, permanent position elsewhere. I would not recommend it for experienced professionals seeking a supportive or strategically meaningful environment.

Pros

- International working environment and exposure to EU-funded initiatives. - Some opportunities for independent work and professional learning.

Cons

- The recruitment process did not reflect the true scope or workload of the position. - Several projects were reassigned to one person without realistic resourcing. - EU-funded projects were systematically under-resourced, particularly as these projects did not require detailed financial reporting. - Excessive workload and responsibility created ethical and administrative concerns. - The organisation’s approach raised legitimate concerns about the transparency and governance of EU-funded project management.
